Happy Fall Y'all!

Whew...it has been very busy in the KinderJungle the past few weeks! We just finished our Benchmark testing last week! This week our theme was Houses/Families! To kick this theme off, I sent home a blank piece of poster board and ask the parents to help their children complete their family trees! This is always one of my favorite things we do because you really get to know your students and their families. They also complete a little questionnaire about things they like to do with their families! These turned out soooooo cute! I wanted to share a few pictures of the final products!

In writing this week, we have been learning about Characters, Actions and Settings. We read the book No, David! We identified the character and the actions. We then made our own No _______! pictures. We replaced our names instead of David's!

The student's had so much fun making these! They absolutely love the David Books! We had a great week and I am so looking forward to next week's theme....

We are underway in the KinderJungle

Things are going great in the KinderJungle! We had a great time with our theme last week! We studied colors! We read Brown Bear, Brown Bear and made sequencing hats. The next day we read Mouse Paint and practiced mixing colors. On Friday, we conducted the Rainbow Milk Experiment, read Pete the Cat and made Pete the Cat Glyphs! To end this theme and our study of patterns! We made color patterns out of M&M's! Yummy! It was a great week and the kids had lots of fun!!

First Full Week Completed

Well... we made it through the first full week of school! We are settling in and getting the hang of the routines! We had so much fun learning letter A-E this week. We also learned all about sorting in Math. On Friday, we sorted M&M's. Once we determined which color we had the most of and the least of we were able to eat them! YUMMY! We had our first fire drills this week. We did a great job getting out of the building!

We are so excited about our theme this week...Colors! I will post pictures of all the fun things we will be doing!

Have a great week!

First Week of School was a Success!

Well we made it through the first week of school! The kids did great! I have 26 sweet babies this year! They have settled in so well and are getting the hang of the routine. We learned all about our school and the expectations of us this week! We had a great time with Chicka Chicka Friday. We are beginning our letter cycles on Monday, so I thought this would be a great way to kick it off! We had a scavenger hunt all around the school because the letters had escaped! Luckily, we found them all! We then made our own Chicka Trees to hang up in the hallway. We also got to make our own Chicka Tree snacks and they were YUMMY!

What a great week we had!

A Teacher's Fashion Linky Party

I linked up with Jess and her blog From Blood to Books for her Teacher Fashion Linky Party! This is my first linky party. I figured what better way to get started then doing one about my two favorite things...Teaching and Fashion.

1. My Favorite Stores are:

2. My Favorite accessories are:

Scarves, Sunglasses, Purses (Brahmin, Coach, & Michale Kors). I love my BCBG & D&G sunglasses! Scarvs also add a great touch to any outfit!

3. I love to teach in sandles in the spring, flats in the fall and boots in the winter! I have to admit I do have pair of Dansko type shoes that I go to when it is yucky out and I feel like bumming a little!

4. My go to item in my closet is definitely my Gap Jean Jacket! I love this jacket because it looks cute with anything and is perfect for any season!

Denim jacket (dark wash)
5. Thankfully I have not had any fashion Uh-oh's at school. But this is only my second year of teaching so anything can happen!!

Thanks so much Jess! This was soo much fun!!!

Blogging...Finally

So, I finally decided to give in and create my own blog. Thus, we have Mrs. Rich's KinderJungle. I thought this was a cute name because I am teaching kindergarten again and I have decided to go with a Jungle theme this year. I have been very busy the past few weeks buying and creating things for my classroom. This is how I discovered the world of Teacher Blogs. What a great way to share ideas and for parents to see what is going on in the classroom. I am so excited about this new adventure!
